iVillage Extended Networks

How many Extended Networks does iVillage currently have?
Currently, iVillage has 2 Extended Networks:

  • iVillage Total Health
  • iVillage Pregnancy/Parenting
  • Why are you setting up the Extended Networks?
Our sales teams have seen increasing demand from our advertisers for more inventory in targeted content areas.  Moreover, our advertisers are asking for increased reach in niche content sites that are part of the Internet’s “torso” and “long tail.”  The Extended Networks are an important way we meet their needs as well as create an opportunity for great smaller sites and blogs to earn additional advertising revenues.

Can I get access to Extended Network logos to put on my site?
We will shortly be releasing logos to put on your website.

Can I get access to iVillage content?
We are developing widgets and RSS feeds and will shortly be providing Extended Network members the ability to put these products on their sites. Stay tuned for further developments in this area.

What Extended Networks are you planning on launching in the future?
We are exploring the launch of additional Extended Networks and will be making announcements throughout the year.

    Signing Up

How do I submit my site?
Simply go to our contact us page and decide which Extended Network is most appropriate for your site’s content. Click the signup link and fill out the application form. To evaluate your site, we need some basic information about you, your site, and why you want to be part of the Extended Network you selected. For certain Extended Networks, like iVillage Total Health, we will also ask you to indicate which channels within the Extended Network are most appropriate for your site’s content. Submit your application, and in most cases, we will let you know within 15 business days whether your site is accepted.

What types of sites get accepted?
We are looking for a wide variety of sites, both big and small, with high quality endemic, relevant content that meets both the standards of our editorial teams and the requirements of our editors.  When you submit your site, our editorial team will review your site to ensure it is appropriate for the Extended Network.

How do I know if my site was accepted?
You'll receive a notification email informing you of your approval status. If approved, the email will contain information on how to create your account and get started.

Do I need to display advertising to be part of the Extended Network?
Yes, displaying our ads is a requirement. However, if we do not have any paying ads in the system, you can specify another ad to run in its place, for example, a “house ad” for your site or a partner site, or an ad from another provider you may already be working with.

Can I have more than one site in the Extended Network?
If your sites are of great quality and meet our criteria, you can have as many sites in the Extended Network as you want. You can even have multiple sites in different Extended Networks.

My blog is based outside the U.S. Can I still join an iVillage Extended Network?
Not yet. We are working on the ability to support non-US sites and recommend that you check back in with us later.

    Advertising Options

How much money can I expect to make?
The iVillage Sales team has relationships with a broad set of name-brand advertisers who want to reach broad audiences across many categories.  CPMs differ by type of content – usually the more targeted the content, the higher the CPM.  Revenue shares are set depending on the number of impressions you deliver.

What types of ads will run on my site?
We support three IAB standard ad units, 728x90, 160x600, and 300x250.  We ask that you run at least one of these units on each page of your choice, though it is in your interest to run the units where we have the most demand. When there are no ads in our system, you can redirect your inventory to another ad source, such as a “house ad” for your site or a partner site, or an ad from another provider you may already be working with

If I sign up can I run non-network ads on my site?
Yes. Membership in the Extended Network is non-exclusive, and you can continue to run other network ads and promotions. Additionally, you can redirect your inventory to another ad source, such as a “house ad” for your site or a partner site, or an ad from another provider you may already be working with.

    How do I get paid?
Currently, you will be paid Net 75 days of the advertising running on your site. For example, payments for advertising that runs on your site in January will be sent in the beginning of April. Payments will come from our trusted advertising partner, Adify.  If your net 75 day revenue does not meet the minimum payment amount of $100, this revenue will roll over to the following month, and you will be paid then. Once you are part of the Extended Network, you will be able to access your online account see how much revenue you earned on your site.

    What's Adify?
Adify is a third-party ad serving technology that iVillage uses to serve and manage ad campaigns. Additionally, Adify manages publisher accounts so each site owner can login, define ad space for sale, review incoming media buys, and view revenues earned. All payments for advertising on your site will come from Adify as well.

Whom can I call with questions?
If you have questions about the Extended Networks and your membership in it, please contact us at contact us. If you have questions about advertising on your site, please contact Adify at 1 877 GO-ADIFY (+1 650 392 6200) or help@adify.com.
