Life-Affirming Video of the Week: 100-Year-Old BFFs Explain Pop Culture

Let Irene and Alice clarify the selfie, Kim & Kanye, Justin Beiber, and the iPhone for you

Irene Cook and Alice Jensen of Chicago have been best friends since 1918. In the past 94 years, they’ve lived through world wars and moon landings, the birth of their children and the death of their husbands. These days, they only live 20 minutes away from each other, and they still get together a few times a year for birthdays and other events.

When Steve Harvey heard their story, he had to have them on the show. In their first appearance, they shared their advice on health and friendship. This time, Harvey invited them to share their thoughts on pop culture – everything from selfies to twerking (which left Irene in a fit of giggles), to baby North West and “Justin Beaver.”

This clip, with more than 722,000 views, is one of the cutest things you’ll see this week.
