chime in nowYou love your French sailor stripes -- but those alone won't make a baby shower theme. Instead dream of Marseille with this nautical-inspired idea the features classy -- not cutesy -- stork accents.
Décor: To add a nautical take to the classic stork theme, bring in a mix of accents: Buy lots of nautical flags and make a ribbon-wrapped life preserver ring out of foam from the fabric store to coordinate with red, blue and black linens. To give those storks a French twist, put them in a blue-striped shirt and berets on cookies and invitations. (You can find easy instructions on how to decorate those cookies here and create the invitations here -- or just hire the tasks out.) Keep your centerpieces simple and classic with white tulips in navy and red, ribbon-wrapped vases.
Cute idea: Macaron "rattles" are easy to make and are oh-so-French. Buy white macaroons, and then insert a lollipop stick into the filling. (For a cute touch, add red, blue and black ribbon around the stick!)
