The “let’s take turns” approach is a tried-and-true negotiation method. Your spouse may feel a little slighted this go-round, so consider setting certain parameters to ease the concession: If he absolutely despises your first choice, you could go with your second choice. That way you get to reject his first pick next time around if you find it, um, appalling.
