Summer with the kids is so relaxing -- until they start saying "I'm bored!" at 11am. And too many trips to the zoo or amusment park can really break the bank. To help keep the kids entertained until school starts (how many more days are there?), we've gathered tons of clever, fun ways to wile away the afternoon -- little to no moolah required.
Mega Bubbles Bubbles are always awesome but this extreme version will thrill your kiddos.
Best for kids aged: 1 and up to watch, 3 and up to try
What you’ll need: Wood sticks (dowels work), cotton string, a large plastic bin, dishwashing soap, corn syrup
Directions: Tie a piece of string (about 1 to 2 feet) between the tops of the poles, and then tie a second string that hangs down in a U shape below it. Mix up the bubble juice in the bin using 6 cups water, plus 1 cup of corn syrup and 2 cups of dish soap. Stir gently. To create bubbles, dip the sticks in together, slowly pull apart, and gently wave in the air.
Why they’ll love it: Trying to see who can make the biggest bubble -- maybe even one bigger than they are! -- is good for at least a few hours of entertainment.
