The 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony was broadcast live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, September 19th at 8pm ET/7pm C. The show aired on ABC. Funnyman Garry Shandling, who previously hosted the show in 2000, returned as emcee. Sex and the City and The Sopranos both had big nights as did the mini-series Angels in America.
