Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama): Brad Pitt

Based on their array of pre-Globes accolades, old pals Brad Pitt (Moneyball) and George Clooney (The Descendants) are the frontrunners here. While there’s been much chatter that Clooney has delivered a performance of a lifetime, Brad Pitt -- the bigger box-office star -- gained significant momentum by taking home the highly coveted, predictive New York Film Critics prize. This could undo any bias the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) would harbor against a very American baseball movie.
