Mixing Metals

With gold becoming so popular, many designers are choosing to mix metals rather than stick to just one. As Amber B from Amber B Interiors explains, “Bringing various metal finishes into a room allows the space to feel as if it has been collected over time.” When decorating your home, she believes it's important to find the pieces that speak to you and have meaning. In her dining room, an oil-rubbed bronze chandelier works well near gold-rimmed espresso cups and saucers while her hutch displays platinum china beside a gold frame. “The most important thing to remember is have fun with your home and love each and every space,” she stresses. “Do not feel tied to only one metal finish in a room. The eclectic mix will make the space feel more personal and bring a layered feel to your home.”

Amber B recommends Etsy as a great place to look for new and vintage metal accessories. She’s found many whimsical brass pieces on the site and believes they can help take any space to the next level.
