If you have a couple of pretty scarves lying around and need some quick and easy holiday decorating or gift ideas, check out these 3 great projects.

Make a Tree Skirt. Turn an assortment of colorful scarves into a pinwheel skirt for your Christmas tree. Get instructions from RealSimple.com. For this project, you secure your skirt with safety pins so after the holiday you just remove the pins and you can still use the scarves.

Make a Stocking. Use a fringed scarf to make a soft stocking. Hang it on your mantle for Santa to fill or give it as a gift. Get instructions and download a template from MarthaStewart.com.

Wrap Gifts. A handmade or store bought scarf makes a great gift wrap, as well as a terrific gift. It's a green alternative to paper, plus the recipient can reuse it all winter long.
