It was a great night for television, as the 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards successfully entertained us for the full three hours. And that never happens!

With a new format – awards were grouped together and given out by genre – and a singing, dancing and joke-cracking Neil Patrick Harris hosting, the Emmys upped the laugh factor and trimmed the tedium.

Big winners of the night were NBC's Tina Fey-led 30 Rock and AMC's Mad Men, which took home the best show awards in their categories. Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston won for lead actor in a drama, while Alec Baldwin took home gold in the best lead comedy actor category. As for the ladies, United States of Tara's Toni Collette stole Tina Fey's award in a major upset in the comedic lead actress category, while Glenn Close closed in on lead actress in a drama for her turn on The Damages.
