In the hilarious new comedy This Is 40 (in theaters Dec. 21), Paul Rudd basically steps in to take the place of director Judd Apatow, acting alongside his real-life wife, Leslie Mann, and their two daughters -- Iris, 8, and Maude, 13.
The movie serves as the sort-of sequel to the 2007 hit Knocked Up, in which Mann played the older sister of Katherine Heigl's pregnant character. Heigl and Seth Rogen are absent from this version, but Mann's adorable family remains the same -- only five years older.
In this iVillage exclusive featurette, Apatow introduces his daughters and explains how they've evolved from their minimal roles in Knocked Up to their meatier (and funnier!) roles in This Is 40.
"There's a lot of family in this movie, so I'm hoping it's a positive thing for Iris and Maude," he says, "and that I'm not destroying their psyches .... and their lives."
