From my fellow NeverSayDiet blogger, Lindsay Dunlap:
“My mom is an excellent role model when it comes to eating. She was thin most of her life, but put on a little weight after having three daughters. In 2002, she saw pictures of herself at my wedding and realized she was much more overweight that she had previously acknowledged.
She got on Weight Watchers, went to meetings, and started walking everyday. The weight came off slowly and steadily, and she lost 60lbs. in a year. That was actually TOO thin for her to maintain, and her face looked a bit gaunt. So she regained 10lbs, and has maintained her 50lb. weight loss for 6 years. At my persistence, she added light weight training, and she is now incredibly healthy and vibrant for her 58 years of age.
The BEST part is that she finally influenced my father to lose weight the right way. My dad has been an Atkins fanatic for years, yo-yoing up and down a good 50lbs at least twice a year. My mom’s steady success eventually convinced him to give Weight Watchers a try, and now they are both at a healthy weight. I’m so grateful to my mother for taking care of herself, and now helping my father take care of HIMself. I want them to be around for when I hit age 58!”
