Research suggests that soy products can modestly decrease hot flashes, so to get the body-cooling benefit, simply up your intake of soy—edamame, soy milk, tofu or tempeh. About 20 to 60 grams of soy protein daily, which provides about 34 to 76 milligrams of isoflavones, seems to help some menopausal women, says Dr. Sood.
