'70s-Style Decorating Is Back and It's Not All Bad

After yesterday's post, I was feeling a little traumatized by all the reminders of '70s decorating trends. So you can imagine my shock when I went to see the new products in IKEA's 2010 catalog and found that several of them reminded me of the very trends that I'd posted about earlier in the day.

The Bladhult pattern on this Klippan sofa, for example, bears a striking resemblance to the pattern that was on the original Klippan sofa when IKEA first introduced it to the market in 1979. Then, there were the faux walnut panels, tables and shelves, like on this TV stand. These wood-grained blasts from the past strongly reminded me of the wood paneling in my parent's family room when I was a kid.

That's when something weird happened. I realized that there are parts of this retro revival that I could warm up to. What do you think? Thumbs up or down on '70s décor? And would you put '70s-inspired pieces in your home today?
