8 Steps to Stress-Free Holiday Shopping

2009 was a stressful year for most of us because of the estranged economic environment. How about ending the year on a positive note, feeling good and looking fabulous?

This year, instead of running from store to store trying to find the perfect gifts for everyone on your list and panicking about what to wear to holiday parties, take some time to formulate your plan of attack before hitting the shops.

Getting Glam Plan
1. Make a list of all the events you will have with family, friends and colleagues.
2. Assess the existing clothing in your wardrobe: what need to be replaced, what need to be altered or reinvented.
3. You can reinvent a basic black dress just changing your accessories. For one party, try cinching the waist with a dramatic belt. The next event, jazz it up with a statement necklace or scarf. The next event, try some patterned tights with booties.
4. Make a list of everything you need and hit the shops.
5. Aim to get your shopping done by the December 15th to have the best selection and least crowds at the store.

Gift Shopping
1. Update your shopping list from last year. It helps to save a copy on your computer every year to refer to the next year. You can also list clothing sizes or gift preferences.
2. If you're shopping online, Google the item you want and "coupon" to see if there are any discount codes for it or go to coupon sites like RetailMeNot.com
3. Aim to get most of your gift shopping before December 10th to avoid the last-minute crowd and picked-over inventory and the best shipping prices.
