9 Most Expensive Cat Breeds: Russian Blue

What makes one housecat better than another? Being blue, bald or just really rare, apparently. Check out our list of the top nine most expensive cat breeds – and this is just for the kitty, folks. Catnip and a litter box not included.

Russian Blue
Cost: $350-$350,000
Years of selective breeding are the reason for the Russian Blue's high price tag. Among its most winning features are striking green eyes that grow more vivid with age and a permanent smile caused by prominent whisker pads and a turned-up mouth. And while we think six figures is a lot of money to pay for a pet, at least you'll get more than a lap cat with a Russian Blue. The breed is known to enjoy playing games of fetch.
