9 of the Weirdest Decorating Collections

People collect junk -- it's a fact. Some of you collect toys; others collect animals. Then there are a few of you who can open up your own flea market! Either way, all of your treasures tell a story and are interesting and unique. We recently asked you about the strange trinkets you've been collecting, and here's what you said:

Piggy Banks
"My bank collection was started for me when I was a teen. I had over 200 piggy banks when I started college, and where are they now? In storage. I want to get rid of them." --iVillager annette33

Rope Snake
"The rope snake that my in-laws brought back from Thailand for my husband is the weirdest thing in my house. It's hidden on the bookshelf in the spare bedroom, and only comes out when my mother-in-law is coming to visit. It's just too disgusting to look at." --iVillager cl-feathersa

"I have a purse fetish. I am constantly
changing my purses, but I usually buy them
at discount stores like Wal-Mart." --iVillager jdk1973

Antique Fishing Lures
"I've been collecting antique fishing lures since my husband's grandfather passed away, and it means a great deal to our family because we have a love for fishing. The lures are shaped like fish, strung on clear dental floss and are hung from hooks in the bathroom. The lures add color (as well as attention!) to my bathroom walls, and they fit the water theme that runs dominant in our bathrooms." --iVillager cl-just_go_for_it

Lucille Ball Memorabilia
"I was a Lucy freak growing up. I have lots of collectibles, from plates to dolls, to books, records and videos. Not tons of stuff, but enough to fill a large curio cabinet." --iVillager annette33

"My husband and I enjoy doing puzzles, and after we're done, we glue them together and frame them to hang on our walls. They make great conversation pieces and are cheap decorations! A few times our guests didn't even realize they were puzzles." --iVillager lovetoworkandplay

"I think the strangest thing I collect would be masks, both decorative and wearable. I started collecting them after my husband, who brought a few South American masks back for me when he was sailing in the Navy. I immediately hung them in our bedroom and started decorating in a jungle safari type theme. We don't actually use them. They simply hang on the walls in our bedroom and are used as a decoration. A friend of mine joked that with all those masks in the bedroom, it's almost as if my husband and I have an audience when we're in bed! But we like them there and they definitely give the room a unique look. --iVillager cl-chriskc

"I have a friend who collects rust. She picks up odd little pieces of rusty metal -- they usually look pretty lacy -- and keeps them. I have not a clue what she does with them, although I've thought they'd be kind of fun mounted on a cobalt or royal blue background and framed." --iVillager cl-klorden

Liquor Bottles
"I have hundreds of liquor bottles that I started collecting when my husband brought one home from a business trip. I was just intrigued by their size and the fact that they were exactly like the regular size bottles of liquor. I keep them in the bar room. I even have JR beer (as in J.R. Ewing of the '80s television show Dallas). --iVillager duckylucky65
