Former Dancing with the Stars contestant and pop star Aaron Carter has entered a treatment facility "to heal some emotional and spiritual issues he was dealing with," his manager Johnny Wright said in a statement.
"He has chosen to enter a facility where he feels he will get the guidance and cleansing he needs," says Wright. "Which in turn will help him on the music journey he's about to take."
Carter was currently working on a new album and a show in Florida, before deciding to take the break. The nature of his problems was not released, but E! News is reporting that the 23-year-old is battling "addiction issues," which prompted him to seek help at a Southern California center earlier this month.
In 2006, Carter appeared on VH1's Celebrity Rehab, where he was treated for substance abuse. Two years later he was arrested for marijuana possession.
