Working for a celebrity can be a thankless job, but Taryn Manning's make-up artist has it worse than most. The actress-singer, who has a recurring role on Hawaii Five-O, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly beating up her 23-year-old assistant, Holliann Hartman.
According to Hartman's criminal complaint, Manning, 33, punched and kicked Hartman in the face; scratched her; slammed her head against the floor and wall; and attempted to choke her. The young assistant reportedly has bruises all over her head and body from the altercation, which occurred at NYC's The Dream Downtown hotel.
Though the cause of the fight has not been revealed, Manning's attorney says it occurred after she and Hartman had been working long hours on her new music video. "They'd been together every waking minute and they got on each other's nerves and had a little incident," the lawyer told People. "It was a minor physical incident."
The actress appeared in court on Friday, where she was charged with misdemeanor assault and choking. She has also been ordered to stay away from her assistant until her next court date on Nov. 13. But Manning's lawyer seems confident that Hartman, a "longtime friend," will not be pursuing charges against her employer.
"(Hartman) is part of the Manning family. She stays with the mother and Taryn in California," he told the New York Daily News.
He also assured the press that the fight was an isolated incident, describing Taryn as "a well-accomplished actress and artist... not a petulant little kid." We'll see what the judge has to say about that.
