Not shocking: Adam Levine's girlfriend is a stunning lingerie model.
Slightly shocking: He's marrying her.
"Adam Levine and his girlfriend Behati Prinsloo are excited to announce they are engaged to be married," Levine's publicist told Us Weekly. "The couple recently reunited and Adam proposed this weekend in Los Angeles."
Up until now, Levine has happily accommodated the rock star cliche of dating high-profile models -- many high-profile models, including Anne Vyalitsyna and Nina Agdal. He's gone from one lovely lady to the next with cheerful aplomb -- and never committed to any of them. (Remember the adage: Why do rock stars date models? Because they can.)
"I'm doing pretty well," he told a reporter back in April."If you don't get married, you can't get divorced. Why couldn't we learn that from the devastatingly low percentage of successful marriages that our last generation went through?" And why limit yourself to just one pretty face when there's always another model to be met at the next stadium stop on your tour?
But he may have learned a lesson from his failed relationship with Vyalitsyna, who blindsided him with their break-up two years ago. A friend told Us Weekly that she was restless for a ring. "As a woman, you get to a point where you want to get married. ... Adam wasn't ready to take that step."
At 34, Levine finally seems to have gotten the message. He and Prinsloo, a Namibia-born Victoria's Secret Angel, briefly split earlier this year, and he immediately replaced her with Agdal. But that relationship soon fizzled, and Levine reunited with Prinsloo. "He realized he really does love [Prinsloo] and she was the one," a source told Us Weekly. "They are in love." They celebrated their engagement over burgers at Peel's restaurant in New York City on Tuesday -- where a witness told Us Weekly they were "canoodling in a booth."
And as he told Oprah Winfrey this spring: "I love kids. I'd love having a wife. I don't have one yet."
