Adam Levine May Join 'American Horror Story' -- What Does This Mean for 'The Voice'?

According to EW, the Maroon 5 frontman is in final negotiations to appear in season 2 of the FX thriller

NBC's The Voice has made Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine into a full-fledged reality star. Next up for the "Moves Like Jagger" singer? Scripted TV. Entertainment Weekly reports that Levine, 33, is close to signing a deal to join the FX thriller American Horror Story in season 2. The show's producers, who are secretive about upcoming plotlines, have said only that he'll play half of a contemporary couple called "The Lovers."

Fans of The Voice may not like this news, especially if it means the witty singer could leave their show for another one. But AHS' producers have offered to schedule shooting around Levine's summer concert tour.

Plus, Levine has said repeatedly that he loves being part of The Voice. Just last month, during an interview with The New York Times,  he shot down the idea of doing any other TV.

"I don’t think I’ll ever do anything else on television," he said. "I think this was a unique wrinkle, a special little ripple that took place where I love being a part of this. But if this ever were to end at some point, I wouldn’t be on television anymore. Never say never; I don’t know. But it doesn’t seem to be what I want to do forever."

"As far as everything else is concerned, I’m a musician at the end of the day. I’m a singer and a songwriter, and I love being in my band. Other things have started to come up in movieland, things I can’t discuss, but I don’t know how I feel about pursuing it. I live my life on an opportunity-by-opportunity basis, where I don’t really know where I’m going; I just enjoy the process of getting there."

Now that "the process" has brought him to AHS, he looks to be carving out a career path similar to Justin Timberlake's.

Like that pop star, Levine is launching his own record label (his first signing: Glee's Matthew Morrison), and now he's getting into acting. Not enough proof for you? He certainly edged further into Timberlake territory when he made this hilarious SNL digital short with Andy Samberg -- watch here:
