Add Sparkle and Shine to Your Holiday

During the holidays, many of us like to open up our homes to friends and family. We gather together over meals with all of the fixings, sing carols around the piano, sip mulled cider in front of the fire, and wish that the warmth and togetherness of the season could stay with us all year.

But before we can even get to this Norman Rockwell
moment we, need to do one major thing - clean the house!
As if the pressure of the gift-buying, wrapping, baking and entertaining weren't enough during the holidays, we are also expected to suck up pine needles and remove wine stains (when we'd rather just be soaking in a hot tub).

Take a deep breath. Though holiday cleaning is not the most exciting thing on our
'to do' list these days, it needs to get done. And Wal-Mart and your Momtourage have a few tips to help you make it through the season with ease:
Follow these simple holiday cleaning tips:

1. When cleaning around the house, crank up your favorite tunes. The upbeat sounds can help you move with a little more motivation, and get the job done faster.

2. When making massive amounts of holiday cookies, try your best to clean as you go. This way you won't have a huge mess to when you are finished.

3. When it comes to red wine stains, the faster you act the better. Getting your garment into the washer as soon as possible likens your chances of saving it. If it is a dry-clean-only garment, don't pre-treat the stain, you could make the situation worse.

4. To remove candle wax drippings from hardwood floors and furniture, place brown paper over the spill and iron with a warm iron until all of the wax is absorbed into the paper.
5. From your dusting cloths to your bathroom spray, keep your cleaning supplies in one place. You'll find things easier and get the job finished faster.

6. Nothing falls off the tree and gets on to everything more than tinsel. Avoid it at all costs.

7. To keep the whole house smelling holiday fresh, be sure to light your favorite pumpkin spice or pine scented candle.

8. During these days of chocolate treats and crafts with glitter, you need to keep the kids clean too. Add a bottle of bubble bath to their stockings for extra motivation.

9. For quick dusting touch ups, use a scented dryer sheet. The dust will stick to the sheet and leave the whole house smelling fresh.

10. Give yourself an early present. Hire a cleaning service to help you get the house ready for the holidays.
