Punch Up the Style in a Boring Bedroom
I want to redo my bedroom. I've been in my place about a year and a half, and that's the last room to really be decorated with my style. Currently, the walls are a drab, dark sand color, with old, white-ish furniture, and my comforter is blue. Blah! I decided the new color scheme should be black, white and hot pink. My question is where do I incorporate the pink? I have an old chair that I want to get reupholstered in pink, but I don't want that to be the only thing. Do I paint the walls pink? Also, what color should the furniture be?

Your bedroom should be as soothing as it is stylish. Why not consider using a paler pink which can still pack a punch but gives you a greater breadth of design options? Try painting just the wall your bed rests against a wonderful pale pink. This will set a nice backdrop for your bed. Paint the other walls a creamy white. An easy way to make a big design statement is to upholster a headboard in some wonderful fabric, like a black and white toile. (You could upholster your chair in that pattern, too.) Add some black night tables and decorative accents with touches of pink. This way your color scheme is omnipresent, without being overwhelming.
