We don't care if Adele was kidding about making a documentary: This obviously needs to happen! In the press room after her Oscar win, the "Skyfall" singer was asked if she now planned to appear on TV and Broadway, in order to complete her EGOT (Emmy/Grammy/Oscar/Tony) status.
"Maybe I'll do an HBO special like Beyonce did," the 24-year-old singer replied with a laugh.
To which we say: yes, please.
Like Beyonce, Adele maintains extreme privacy about her personal life, which is what makes the documentary possibility so exciting. And unlike Beyonce, who is entirely perfect and untouchable, Adele is somebody we could actually picture ourselves becoming friends with. (She's only, like, 98% perfect.) We'd happily hang out with her for an entire TV series, never mind a two-hour movie. With that in mind, here are 7 things we'd love to see in that inevitable Adele documentary!
1. Home movies of little Adele singing the Spice Girls
Apparently, the '90s girl group was among Adele's earliest inspirations, and she used to trot out her Spice Girls impression at her mother's parties. Please tell us that one of her mom's friends owned a video camera.
2. Footage of Adele doing her hair
How does she get that bouffant so perfect every time? And where does the height come from; does she employ an entire team of people with teasing combs?
3. Anything about her ex-boyfriends
Adele has never revealed the identity of the men who inspired her most famous ballads, including "Someone Like You" and "Chasing Pavements." We doubt she's suddenly going to out them, but maybe she can show us some relationship momentos (or photos with their faces blurred out).
4. Anything about her current boyfriend
For a public figure, Simon Konecki is awfully shy. We know from the Internet that he left a lucrative job to found the charity Drop4Drop, that he comes from a wealthy family, and that he's been married before. But we'd love him to confirm all this in an actual on-camera interview!
5. Footage of her "Skyfall" recording session
Legend has it that Adele nailed her James Bond theme song in 10 minutes. Though her producer has called it an exaggeration, that first recording session clearly made a big impression, and we'd love to hear it for ourselves.
6. The mystery baby
Adele's son is the most closely guarded baby since Blue Ivy Carter. She hasn't even confirmed his name (though rumor has it that it's Angelo). But really, we just want to watch Adele play with a baby.
7. New songs!
Most of all, we're dying for new material. At this point, we'd settle for a line sung acapella, or the recording from a microphone hidden in her shower.
Now, about that Broadway show. ...
