After her incredible year at the top of the music industry, Adele could easily just take a break to revel in her success. But the British songstress actually has a new song in the works.
The six-time Grammy winner told French radio station NRJ Monday that she is planning to release a new single in 2012. But fans will have to wait at least another two years for a full-length album from her.
Pointing to the two-year gap between each of her two albums, appropriately named 19 and 21, Adele revealed the reasoning behind her album timing.
"I have to take time and live a little bit," she told the station's host. "It'll be the same this time."
The Rolling in the Deep singer, 23, also admitted that part of the reason she takes her time is that she is responsible for writing or co-writing all of her songs. "If I didn't write my own songs, I'd be out next week with a new album."
Despite the chart-topping success of 21, which has sold more than 20 million copies around the world, Adele doesn't have any expectations about her next project.
"I don't think I'll feel the pressure for the next album to be as big as the last one, because I know that's not really possible," Adele told NRJ. "What happened with is very rare anyway."
As for whom the revered singer, who overcame a serious vocal cord injury last fall, wants to collaborate with in the future? None other than Beyonce.
"I adore Beyonce," the pop star admitted. "I've been listening to her since I was about 11. I think her work as an artist and a singer is enviable in terms of the length of her career and how she's grown and grown."
Beyonce is currently on her own sabbatical while raising newborn Blue Ivy -- but perhaps a duet could be in the future?
