The Air Diet

What it entails: French Grazia magazine featured this diet which they called "L'Air Fooding" which consists of holding food up to your mouth, but not eating it or pretending to eat it. The diet was inspired by Madonna's Dolce & Gabbana ad campaign.
Who does it: Madonna (the queen of extreme dieting)
Advantages: None. Well, low grocery bills.
Disadvantages: Too many to list. We're hoping this "diet" was a joke that was lost in translation. There are no advantages to pretending to eat (unless your Aunt Martha won't let you leave the table without a third helping of her soggy liverwurst casserole) .
The expert's opinion: "The idea that you can con yourself into some kind of level of satiety or happiness by inhaling air is ridiculous," says Hendel. "The only place that should happen is a yoga studio where you om in order to de-stress."
