When Alec Baldwin leaves 30 Rock, he may be headed to Brooklyn. During a conversation with Lena Dunham on his radio show Here's the Thing, Baldwin, 54, told the Girls creator that he'd love a part on her HBO comedy. Listen to the full interview here:
"I'll be available (for season 3). I'll come and play your therapist," said Baldwin (around 27:10), who just finished shooting 30 Rock's final season.
"That would be the most fun thing in the world," said Dunham, who plays lead character Hannah.
"You need a therapist," joked Baldwin.
"Bad," the Girls star agreed.
How much do we love this idea? Of course, we're basically picturing Baldwin's 30 Rock character, TV executive Jack Donaghy, sitting in that therapist's office. Obviously, Jack would make fun of Hannah's wardrobe and advise her to date more Republicans.
But Baldwin would be fun to see on Girls in any role, really. He could play Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet)'s wacky suburban dad. He could seduce Marnie (Allison Williams). Or Elijah (Andrew Rannells)! We're sure Dunham is already brainstorming ways to fit him into the plot.
Or maybe he'll pop up in another one of the busy 26-year-old's projects.
"I really want to make a movie," Dunham told Baldwin. "I have two feature scripts that I’ve been working on...I want to make a creatively ambitious movie. But I want to make another small movie. I have small movie ideas."
"Do you have a massive ambitious movie inside you?" the actor asked. "Is there a 54-year-old psychotherapist in it?"
"There’s a 54-year-old somebody," Dunham acknowledged. "I mean, I’ll talk to you later, because working with you is one of my longstanding dreams."
Glad we're all on the same page then!
