Stop us if you've heard this story before: Alec Baldwin was walking around New York City, minding his own business, when a photographer started snapping pictures of him. And then he went berserk.
Yes, it happened again.
This time, Baldwin actually manhandled the photographer in question, pinning him against the hood of an undercover police car (!) while other paparazzi took photos.
"All I can say is I was doing my job asking him normal questions and he flipped. That's all," the photographer, Paul Adao, told TMZ.
Another photographer, however, told the Daily News that Adao was being way too aggressive.
"Most of us keep our distance because it doesn't take much for Alec to get worked up, but Paul was always like two or three feet away from him," the fellow paparazzo said. "It was inevitable. Everybody has just been waiting for [Baldwin] to attack Paul."
This may have been a case of Baldwin's papa-bear instincts kicking in, since he was out with his wife Hilaria and their four-day-old daughter Carmen at the time. Several witnesses say that the 30 Rock actor asked Adao to stop shooting before throwing him against a car. So Baldwin's reaction is somewhat understandable.
That said, Baldwin really needs to get a grip on that notorious temper. Judging from history, we expect the actor to follow up this incident with a charming faux-apology on late night television. He will insist that it's not his fault. He will say that the press makes him out to be a monster, when it fact, he's a perfect gentleman.
By this time, will TV viewers realize that they've heard it all before?
Basically, baby Carmen is in for a bumpy ride if she ever plans to appear in public with her father. At least she's got somebody in her life who will understand: her 17-year-old half-sister, Baldwin's daughter Ireland from his marriage to Kim Basinger. (She knows a few things about dealing with Alec's runaway temper.) This weekend, Ireland posted a long open letter on Tumblr welcoming her new sibling to the world -- and giving her a word of warning.
"I love you, Carmen. You have been born into one crazy family," wrote the aspiring model. "You are both lucky and cursed at the same time."
She added, "We are going to have so much fun together."
