Alec Baldwin: The Latest Twitter Twit

The actor quit the social media site after a vicious rant directed toward a reporter who questioned his wife

Alec Baldwin's at it again, tweeting gay slurs and profane threats at an (admittedly) irritating reporter, who deigned to derogate Baldwin's wife, Hilaria Baldwin. Ironically, the reporter's put-down was about Twitter -- and the fact that Hilaria appeared to be sending tweets during James Gandolfini's funeral service.  Hilaria set the record straight -- she was not tweeting during a funeral -- by sending a follow-up tweet:

But not before Alec Twitter-attacked the reporter. Most of his tweets contain language not suitable for this website, but you can find a screenshot of his rant -- he since deleted his account -- at The Huffington Post. Here's the censored version of what he wrote:

Tweet 1: "My wife and I attend a funeral to pay our repects to an old friend, and some toxic Brit writes this f***ing trash

Tweet 2: "If [sic] put my foot up your f***ing ass, George Stark, but I'm sure you'd dig it too much"

Tweet 3: "I'm gonna find you, George Stark, you toxic little queen, and I'm gonna f***...you...up."

Tweet 4: "I don't have a publicist anymore. I fired them."

Tweet 5: How much of this s*** are people supposed to take? With these f***ing blatant lies EVERY DAY.

Tweet 6: "My wife DID NOT use her phone, in any capacity, at our friends [sic] funeral. Now, f*** this twitter + good luck to all of you who know the truth."

Baldwin is just the latest example of celebrities taking to Twitter to explain themselves, only to make things worse. He's actually done Amanda Bynes a favor, since she's been Twitter twit #1 these past weeks.

Baldwin has also joined a growing list of celebrities who've dramatically cut ties with their Twitter accounts, including Ashton Kutcher, Adele, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato. (Click here for a full list, plus details about why they sent Twitter packing.) Need we mention that nearly all of them returned eventually, and continue to tweet up a storm today? There's just something so addictive about offering up your brilliant thoughts to the world every five minutes or so!
