Is Alicia Silverstone the Next Parenting Guru?

The actress wants to show moms-to-be how to live a healthy, vegan lifestyle -- during pregnancy and beyond.

It’s still a little hard for us to imagine her as anything other than Cher from Clueless, but could Alicia Silverstone be on her way to mama mogulhood? We’re intrigued by the actress and author's new trailer for her forthcoming book, The Kind Mama: A Simple Guide to Supercharged Fertility, a Radiant Pregnancy, a Sweeter Birth, and a Healthier, More Beautiful Beginning (whew, that’s one long title!), due out next spring.

The premise is this: Silverstone, she of the vegan diet and baby bird-style feeding, thinks pregnancy and parenting has become overly angsty and complicated. We try to find answers through meds and fads (as if!!), but -- she believes -- the real key is diet and lifestyle. With the advice from her book (which comes courtesy of her own experience, as well as OBs, midwives, nutritionists and holistic health counselors), you’ll clear up the “gunk that’s clogging up your body” and making you moody and bloated. She also promises you’ll have the “healthiest, most well-adjusted, kindest kids on the planet.” (Also: Kind kids apparently don’t get colic). And while that sounds like a wee bit of hyperbole, footage of her delicious son Bear frolicking with his gorgeous mom are pretty convincing. She also promises to spill details about the day she delivered Bear (which she teases by saying it was nothing like she planned).

What do you think -- can a vegan diet really do all that? Will you read her book when it’s out?
