Almost two and still nursing

My sister is still breastfeeding her 21 month old. I think this is bizarre, but she thinks it is quite normal. He sleeps in bed with her at night because he still wakes up to nurse. Please give me some good advice I can give to her.

Question:

You can relax about your sister and her baby continuing their nursing relationship. Really there is nothing wrong with nursing into the second or third year.

There is no evidence of any psychological or nutritional harm to children who are nursed as toddlers. provided the relationship between mom and child is warm and loving. When to wean is a decision that needs to be made between the mom and the baby.

Most likely the nursing is not a significant contributor to his diet, but is rather more of an emotional and psychological one.
