Am I at risk from my son's Chicken Pox vaccine?

I am 27 weeks pregnant. I have never had the chickenpox. My four year-old son recently received the chicken pox vaccine. The literature they gave my husband states that a person can contract a light case of chicken pox from the vaccine and be contagious to others. Is there any risk for me or my unborn baby?

Question:

There is no risk that we know of. Unfortunately, that doesn't say much because the vaccine hasn't been out long enough to be sure. Still, from my previous vaccination experiences, we have not found there to be a problem with either transmission to the mother or, if the mother were to get it, transmission to the baby.

Overall, I don't think there is anything to worry about. If you want to be on the safe side, you might get a varicella titer -- measuring your immunity to chicken pox. Most people have immunity to it even if they think they have never had chicken pox.
