Amanda Bynes Denies DUI Story, Claims She Doesn't Drink

The actress defends herself via Twitter: "I can't help but laugh at all of you writing fake stories about me"

Amanda Bynes has been making headlines lately for her multiple run-ins with the law -- but the actress insists at least one of the stories was completely false. TMZ first reported that Bynes was in another hit-and-run in April, but the Easy A actress has taken to Twitter to deny the story.

"I can't help but laugh at all of you writing fake stories about me. I was not in any hit and runs," Bynes, 26, twittered on Sunday. "I don't drink so the DUI is false."

According to TMZ, Bynes had been driving a rented BMW on a California freeway and then hit another car but kept on going, causing the other driver to investigate based on her memory of the Bynes rental's license plate.

The actress' mention of the DUI must refer to her initial arrest on April 6 for suspicion of driving under the influence. She has yet to be charged with DUI, but she is due in court June 6 to face the possible charge.

Shortly after the arrest made the news, Bynes' father told the press that Amanda was not drinking and driving.

Mr. Bynes claims that his daughter was in no way drunk and that "she was upset and very emotional" after the arrest. He also believes that Bynes' decision to take a break from acting has made her a target.

"She is a good girl. She just chooses not to work, and because of that, people go after her."

Unfortunately for Bynes, she has since been attached to three other traffic situations -- including the one she denies, as well as two possible hit-and-runs and an embarrassing traffic hold-up for a poorly executed three-point turn.

Perhaps Bynes should consider hiring a chauffeur.
