Yes, the teaser trailer for next year's The Amazing Spider-Man has hit the Internet, and it's a very different take on a very familiar story. Watch below!
This is a whole new cast, and a whole new beginning for the Spider-Man franchise. Replacing the stars of the earlier three movies, we have The Social Network's Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker (formerly played by Tobey Maguire) Sally Field and Martin Sheen as his guardian Aunt May and Uncle Ben, and this year's break-out starlet Emma Stone as Peter's high-school sweetheart Gwen Stacy (formerly played by Bryce Dallas Howard).
It seems like only yesterday -- though it was almost a decade ago! -- that Spider-Man first came to theaters. And yet, as this trailer shows, the superhero movie has come a long way since then. It's not all corny jokes and big monster costumes anymore; there's now room for characters to be fully-developed people with real-world problems, even before they put on their tights and masks. In other words: Spider-Man may be going back to high school, but the superhero movie has grown up.
And for those of you who still want big green monsters, have no fear: Notting Hill star Rhys Ifans will be playing a villain named The Lizard! An introspective, complex villain, we're certain.
