Okay, we'll admit it. We love summer, but after all the sweltering heat, we're really (really!) looking forward to fall. The only thing we're not so excited about is the way that, as summer fades into autumn, our garden morphs from bright and cheery to drab and colorless.
This year we're determined to keep some color in our garden all year long. The American beautyberry may be just the plant for the job. The fast-growing shrubs display lovely, tight-clustered berries in pink, white or purple through the fall and winter. We think the beautyberry would work well as a casual border or in a free-form garden. Even better? They are relatively low-maintenance and seldom bring along any pest problems.
Chime in! What are some of your favorite things to plant for Fall?
