I'm not sure I've ever been to an extravaganza but on April 24th and 25th, I'll be tuned into American Idol to see one on TV. The event called Idol Gives Back will be "raising awareness and funds for organizations that provide relief programs to help children and young people in extreme poverty in America and Africa." So here's how it works. On Tuesday, April 24th the six finalists will each sing a song that is a "life anthem," which basically means a song that is about compassion and hope. Then on April 25th, during the live results show, Idol will be hosting a two hour star studded extravaganza, with major celebs including Borat, Gwen Stefani, Josh Groban, Pink and many others. During the Wednesday event, veiwers will be given the opportunity to call in to donate or they can donate over the internet. This money along with money donated by the corporate sponsors including Coke and Ford will be given to various charities in the US and Africa. This is such a great idea... I don't even know how to make fun of it. Hold on, let me think... damnit, I got nothing.
