'Idol' Bandleader Ricky Minor Heads to 'Leno'

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno will be welcoming American Idol's resident bandleader, Ricky Minor, who will replace Kevin Eubanks in June as the head honcho making sweet music over at the NBC late-night series.

NBC confirmed that Minor will become the head music man on June 7 -- when Eubanks leaves his post to pursue his musical dreams of writing his own music and recording an album.

Idol will be on hiatus already when Minor, who has been the musical director for major TV broadcasts such as the Grammy Awards and the Super Bowl, heads to his new NBC gig with Leno, but there's no word on whether he will return to the Fox talent contest for its next season of competition.
