'American Idol' Contestant's DUI Arrest Revealed

Idol hopeful Stefano Langone was arrested for drunk driving last spring

American Idol season 10 finalist Stefano Langone may not be a full-on celebrity just yet -- but the 22-year-old is getting a dose of what it's like to have the skeletons in his closet exposed.

E! News has discovered that Langone was arrested for driving under the influence in May 2010, after cops stopped him for speeding and failing to signal before changing lanes. The aspiring pop star had been partying with friends in Belltown, Wa., before police got a hold of him.

According to the report, the Idol finalist smelled of alcohol and authorities noticed his eyes were "bloodshot, watery, droopy and (had) dilated pupils." He was then given a field sobriety test, which he failed. Langone did admit to having one "beer several hours earlier," and then submitted to a Breathalyzer test. Registering a 0.098 (above the state's 0.08 legal limit) Langone was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.

But even then, Langone's dreams of hitting the stage couldn't be crushed. On the way to King County Jail, the trooper wrote in his report that the seemingly clean-cut contestant "was singing."

Langone was booked and released on $500 bail. After making a deal with prosecutors in November, he pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of negligent driving and received a suspended 90-day jail sentence, a fine of $863 and was ordered to take a drug- and alcohol-education course. He was also told to stay out of trouble for two years or he would end up behind bars.

Surprisingly (yet again!), this wasn't Langone's first run-in with the law. In 2008, Kent police cited him for marijuana possession, but the case was dismissed in court.

We really hope Langone has gotten his act together because, after his moving performance of "If You Don't Know Me By Now" on last night's show, this guy may very well be the next American Idol.
