Fantasia Barrino overcame the odds after a troubled teen life to win season 3 of American Idol, but the 26-year-old pop singer and Broadway star (The Color Purple) now finds herself in the middle of a whole new drama involving infidelity -- and an alleged sex tape. The eight-time Grammy nominee is reportedly in a classic love triangle, and is now accused in court documents of being "the other woman."
According to North Carolina's Charlotte Observer, Barrino has been named in a custody lawsuit filed by Paula Cook, who claims that the singer has carried on an affair with her husband, Antwuan Cook. Mrs. Cook seeks custody of their two young children, as well as child support and alimony. (Barrino is a mom to 9-year-old Zion.) Cook's complaint also claims that Antwuan and the Idol champ have "at times recorded their illicit sexual activity."
Already, Barrino has proudly displayed a tattoo on her left collarbone that reads "Cook" (her alleged lover is said to have a tattoo dedicated to Fantasia in the same spot).
Allegedly, Barrino placed a phone call to Mrs. Cook when the affair was underway, saying, "He don’t want you. Maybe the next time that you get a husband you'll know how to keep him. That's why he is here with me."
While Barrino has not been sued by Mrs. Cook, North Carolina is one of seven U.S. states with a "homewrecker" law, allowing a married person to sue a third party who becomes involved with the spouse.
