1.) Do you think the parent/child teams or the married couples teams have the advantage and why?
Amy: I definitely think that the parent/child teams have the advantage over the married couples. I think with the parent/child teams, we just have that bond!
2.) Has your partner contributed to your weight gain before the show?
Amy: My Mom and I always went on diets together. We have always tried to lose weight. We have definitely contributed to each others weight gain. When one of us wants to go out to eat, instead of saying, "No, let’s stay in and cook", of course we go out to eat!
3.) Do you think losing weight with a family member is easier or harder than going it alone and why?
Amy: I think it's a lot easier to have the support of your family member. It was great for me to have someone to talk to when I had a bad day on the ranch, and I was really lucky that it was my Mom. I also think that because we did get fat together, it was a wonderful thing to do, to learn about exercise and nutrition together!
4.) What was the turning point in your life when you realized you needed to lose the weight?
Amy: I started cosmetology school in 2006 and I gained over 40 pounds in less than 9 months. I needed a serious life change, and I was finally ready. I knew that the life I was living was NOT healthy at all. I was eating fast food 3 times a day! When I got the call from my Mom that we got a second audition for The Biggest Loser, I was actually in line at Taco Bell!
5.) Who worked harder at losing weight—you or your partner?
Amy: I think my Mom and I worked equally as hard; my Mom was amazing! She is 51 years old and she worked SO hard on the ranch!
6.) What advice can you give to people who want to lose weight? What's the best advice you got?
Amy: The two most important things I learned from this experience is you HAVE to exercise and you HAVE to count your calories! If you are not doing these two things, you will NOT lose weight.
7.) What's your favorite workout?
Amy: Spinning, Running, and riding my bike!
8.) What's the best advice Bob or Jillian has given you?
Amy: NEVER give up on what you want, NEVER say you can't do something, because you can do ANYTHING!
9.) What's your favorite meal?
Amy: My favorite healthy snack is Edamame! It's so easy and you can eat it with just about anything. I also LOVE sugar-free dark chocolate Jello pudding mixed with fat-free Cool Whip. It's only 80 calories and it tastes just like a mousse! Mmm… it's SO good!
10.) What is one thing that happened behind-the-scenes that no one would know from watching the show?
Amy: Jillian does have a sensitive, nice side to her.
