Was it a mistake for Amy Winehouse to go on tour just weeks after leaving rehab? The 27-year-old singer, whose promising career has been derailed by personal drama and substance abuse issues, attempted to launch her European comeback tour this weekend. Sadly, the kick-off concert in Belgrade, Serbia, didn't go so well -- and Winehouse delivered what one Serbian newspaper called "the worst (concert) in the history of Belgrade." Watch the footage below!
As seen in the video, Winehouse was reportedly distracted, unsteady and incoherent during the show. Not only did she slur words and forget lyrics, but according to the Daily Mail, she actually disappeared from the stage several times during the concert, leaving the band playing without her.
"She did not sing one song from beginning to the end. Some of them she didn't even try to sing," wrote one furious audience member who posted a YouTube clip of the botched performance. "Not a fan anymore."
The concert was such a disaster that Winehouse has cancelled her European tour dates for the remainder of the month. According to a her rep, she is doing so because "she cannot perform to the best of her ability" and believes "this is the right thing to do."
Winehouse's tour is scheduled to pick up again in Spain on July 8 -- but is that really enough time for the troubled singer to get her act together? Granted, we're no experts, but it seems like checking out of rehab early might have been a mistake. Winehouse is a talented singer, but she's let her personal demons eclipse her music almost entirely. We're tired of hearing her song "Rehab" used as a punchline. If Winehouse made a real comeback, it would be truly inspiring -- but unless she gets the help she needs, we're worried it may never happen.
