If someone tells you that you look like Amy Winehouse, it probably means you've had one (or six) too many chocolate martinis. Now comes word that the Grammy-winning trainwreck is launching her first clothing collection this fall. (Wonder if she'll call it "Back to Black"?)
Winehouse, 26, is collaborating with British "street fashion" label Fred Perry on a 17-piece collection for women. Reportedly (and frankly, somewhat surprisingly, given her tarnished reputation), Winehouse was actively pursued by the label for her distinctive mod-meets-punk style. The clothing line, which you can preview here, is full of popped-collar polo shirts, pencil skirts, skinny capri pants, and checkered fabrics. It's actually pretty cute!
It's worth remembering that, before her substance, marital woes and legal problems became daily tabloid fodder, Winehouse in her rising-star days was an edgy but respected style icon. Her beehive hairdo and '60s aesthetic inspired the likes of famed designer Karl Lagerfeld -- who called her "the new Brigitte Bardot" and modeled a 2007 runway show after the singer's look.
