Anabolic steroids are synthetic substances similar to the male hormone testosterone. They are used to promote masculine features, increase growth, build muscle tissue, and strengthen bones.
Common anabolic steroid medicines include fluoxymesterone (Halotestin) and methylprednisolone (Medrol).
