There's no doubt about it. Newsman Anderson Cooper is thoroughly enjoying the looser, lighter aspect of his popular The Ridiculist segment on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360.

How else could he poke such merciless fun at 17-year-old Courtney Stodden, bride of 51-year-old Lost alum Doug Anthony Hutchinson? Those newlyweds have been making the press rounds of late, and their bizarre interviews on Dr. Drew's Lifechangers and Good Morning America have made them perfect targets for Cooper's snide humor. Watch the segment here:

Recounting an incident in which the couple was thrown out of a pumpkin patch (due to some over-the-top PDA and Stodden's Playmate-of-the-Month-style attire), he mockingly takes up for the 17-year-old aspiring actress. "She had no other choice than to walk her festive stripper boots right out of there and show her pumpkins on the side of the road," he huffs. "There are other photos -- oh yes, but we can't put them on TV. Let's just say they show a little too much crack-o-lantern."

After showing a clip of the couple defending themselves from the "concerned moms" who complained about them, Cooper sarcastically agrees. "Those [air quotes] concerned moms, mind your own cleavage, that's what I say," he quipped.

The clip of Stodden attempting to make sexy faces mid-interview really speaks for itself, but Cooper can't resist taking the bait. "Courtney, what makes you so enchanting?" he asks, to a soundtrack of "sexy" smooth jazz. "Why are you so beguiling yet so elusive? What will your Halloween costume be this year? Will it perhaps be, I don't know, something provocative? And most importantly, what the hell are you doing with your face?"

If viewers had any doubt about why Cooper launched his new show, this at least partly explains it. He needed a venue to imitate and/or respond to the…interesting characters that he comes across. Jon Stewart better watch his back, because Cooper's got his own knack for ridiculing newsmakers.
