When the pop-culture history books are written, 2009 may well go down as The Year of Many Celebrity Babies. Sure, there's Nadya "Octomom" Suleman, Jon & Kate Plus 8 and the Duggars of 18 Kids and Counting. Of course those are the extreme cases of celebrities who've had lots of babies, but there are also plenty of stars who may not have had multiple births, but in 2009 added to their fertile family ground.
With that, let's have a look at some of the celebrities who added to their broods (or hoped to) this year.
Brangelina's seemingly endless hunger for more children shows no signs of subsiding. According to recent tabloid reports, Jolie wants to add at least two more kids to her already-sizeable, international brood of six. Brad Pitt, for his part, once joked that he'd like enough children to fill out his own soccer team.
Madge has two birth children -- Lourdes and Rocco -- as well as two adopted children, David Banda and Mercy James. After initially being rejected, Madonna attempts to adopt another African child (Banda is from Malawi), were finally rewarded, and she welcomed Mercy James to her family in June.
Speidi are split on the decision to have children. They don't yet have a family of their own, but Spencer Pratt has said in no uncertain terms that he wants exactly zero kids; Heidi says she definitely wants a big family. And, Heidi's former Hills co-star, Audrina Patridge says Heidi recently told her she wants to be "the next Octomom."
Lisa started relatively early, giving birth to her first child, Zoe, with Lenny Kravitz at age 21. She has since had two more children with current husband, Jason Momoa, including one just last month. And word has it she's interested in having even more.
The Project Runway host and her husband, Seal, welcomed their latest bundle of joy, a girl named Lou, on October 9th. Lou makes four children for Heidi, and she has reportedly declared that four will be enough.
So, that begs the question: Is there such thing as too many babies? Chime in below!
