Now that Anna Nicole Smith's 3-year-old daughter Dannielynn has been legally denied an inheritance from the estate of Smith's late husband (oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall), dad Larry Birkhead has devised an inventive strategy to pad the little tyke's college fund. On June 26, Birkhead will be auctioning off Smith's estate -- which consists mainly of garish dresses, garish art, and garish dog accessories. Have a look!
As featured on NBC's Today Show; here are some items up for bids:
Flashy transportation. Smith's Mercedes-Benz roadster and red Honda motorcycle are the auction's biggest-ticket items; the car is expected to fetch $15,000.
One-of-a-kind art. Smith considered herself an artist, and several of her paintings are up for grabs -- including one of a red-eyed Powerpuff Girl smoking a cigarette.
The only fur coat PETA ever approved of. The animal-rights organization, for which Smith was a spokesperson, allowed her to keep the coat as a remembrance of its giver: her late husband Marshall.
Some may want to place bids just to support the late starlet's adorable daughter, but auctioneers are confident that the collection will sell on its own merits. "There's a fascination with Anna Nicole Smith," a representative from Julien Auctions tells The Today Show. "She has a huge following around the world."
