Some women take trips around the world to get over a messy breakup, while others rely on their girlfriends to get them through. So how did Anne Hathaway mend her broken heart? She filmed a romantic movie with super sexy Jake Gyllenhaal!
The film Love and Other Drugs is about a couple and their trust issues, and Hathaway says it was something of a therapeutic experience for her. The Oscar-nominated actress talked to Vogue about her life after boyfriend Raffaello Follieri.
Two years ago, Raffaello was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison after pleading guilty to 14 counts of wire fraud, money laundering and conspiracy. In total, Follieri swindled investors out of more than $2 million.
Hathaway, who told Vogue she is a "very open and very trusting person," said filming Love and Other Drugs made her confront some of her demons surrounding her ultimately doomed relationship to Raffaello. "I was a wreck from start to finish," she says. "I think I cried every single day."
The actress goes on to say the daunting experience (which also resulted in the FBI seizing gifts from Raffaello to Hathaway, including thousands of dollars worth of jewelry) made her "more wary" of men. "It takes a minute for me to let my guard down," she says.
But through her heartache Hathaway has managed to maintain her sense of humor. When asked what her deal-breaker in a relationship is, the 27-year-old star said with a laugh, "Uh... fraud?"
