Anne Hathaway wants every couple to be able to have a beautiful wedding. The Dark Knight Rises actress, who married Adam Schulman on Sept. 29, has sold pictures of the big day to several media outlets, and will reportedly be using the profits to support same-sex marriage.
Hathaway, whose brother is gay, has long been an advocate of gay marriage rights. She will reportedly donate some of her wedding-photo money to Freedom to Marry, an organization that is working to pass marriage equality laws across the United States. The actress is said to be dividing the remaining money between several of her other favorite charitable organizations, including the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and The Girl Effect.
It is unknown which publications will be publishing photos of the bride. While you're waiting to find out, you can check out the paparazzi's unofficial wedding album here! (Spoiler alert: she looks beautiful. But she'll look even better in the non-blurry shots.)
Celebrities have always sold photos of their personal lives to magazines, as a way to take control of their own public images. But Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt set a new precedent in 2006, when they sold the first photos of their daughter Shiloh to People -- and donated the reported $4 million to charity. In 2008, they did it again, donating the profits from photos of newborn twins Knox and Vivienne (reportedly $14 million, the highest baby photo price on record) to charity. Since then, other celebs have followed suit -- most recently Pink, who sold the first picture of daughter Willow to People and donated the money to children's charities.
We love that Hathaway is now extending the charitable gesture to wedding photos. Maybe other celebrities will follow suit? Kim Kardashian, whenever your next wedding may be, we're looking at you!
