Is there trouble in paradise for Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith? Since this spring, the Internet has been abuzz with speculation that the couple of 15 years were on the brink of divorce and fighting to save their marriage -- and those rumors just won't go away. So are they true? Not according to two sources, who tell People that all is well with Banderas, 51, and Griffith, 54, thank you very much.
"They seem absolutely fine," an insider who recently spent time with the couple tells the magazine. "Honestly, they seem happy."
Adds a second insider: "[Banderas] is in Budapest filming, and they'll be together again as soon as he's done. They really are very happy together."
That's good news, because we don't need another Hollywood power couple calling it quits anytime soon. Still, it's not hard to see how the rumors got started. This spring, Banderas was photographed cozying up to a beautiful blonde in a Cancun nightclub. Then, just this week, a video hit the Web showing the actor suggestively dancing with Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat, 35, during a Cannes Film Festival party in May. (You can watch the video below.)
Griffith, meanwhile, has been spotted around Los Angeles not wearing her wedding ring -- although she has also been seen wearing the ring at recent events, including the Munich Film Festival in early July.
But maybe this is all just par for the course for the couple. Banderas told AARP last September that he and his wife "have had as many problems as anybody," but work them out because they are truthful with each other.
"I think that you should be able to be honest with your wife: I should be able to tell you that, yeah, sometimes I walk into a party and I feel there are women there that are very beautiful," Banderas said. "And you shouldn't be upset. In the same way, you may see a guy who's very attractive. The question is, how much will you stretch that? It's all about balance in life. We all need water, obviously, but I'm not going to drink the pool. I think it's very important that you know exactly where the limits are."
