Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller had heads spinning when they jetted off to Mexico this weekend together. So, could the exes really be trying to work things out?
While a source told UsMagazine.com that Mueller, 34, and Sheen, 45, are "thinking of getting back together," the former Two and a Half Men actor says that's not what this getaway was about.
Charlie told TMZ.com that he and his ex are "good friends trying to be great parents" to their 2-year-old twins, Bob and Max. Mueller has been getting treatment for her substance abuse issues, and Sheen says their trip was simply a "birthday/you're doing great in rehab" present to the mother of his children.
But no matter how friendly these two may seem, Sheen says a reconciliation is not part of the plan. After splitting in 2009, and finalizing their divorce this past May, the actor claims he and Mueller are just "working on mending the bridges, replanting scorched earth. The goal is harmony."
After all the craziness that has come out of Charlie Sheen's mouth over the past year, it's almost hard to believe that he could actually be thinking rationally. But his brother, Emilio Estevez, did recently say that Charlie was a changed man, and a source close to the actor concurs that he's really committed to making things right for his children.
"He hates that he's made [his kids] so unhappy," the insider says. "No one believes anything he says, but the truth is he's been clean since February."
